How do reliable NTP servers work?

A dual source network time protocol (NTP) server receives the time from a radio and GPS source. The server will always take the time from the strongest source, and if one source fails then the other will compensate. Consequently, Galleon’s NTP servers are ideal when you need the most accurate and reliable time possible.

Ideally, you will place the radio antenna outside. However, it is possible to position the radio antenna inside a building, near a window. The GPS antenna must be positioned outside with a clear view of the sky, for instance on a rooftop. The GPS antenna receives a signal from up to 12 satellites for maximum accuracy.

You can use an additional extension kit to position radio and GPS antennas up to 1000 metres away from the NTP server. This allows you to place antennas in the best location, wherever you are.

Galleon’s reliable NTP servers connect to your network via an Ethernet connection and deliver highly accurate and synchronised time to the clocks, phones, PCs and other devices also connected to your network.

Hundreds of devices can receive time from a single NTP server.

Two models of reliable NTP servers are available:

• NTS-6002: supplies time to two networks. Uses a Linux operating system.
• NTS-8000: Supplies time to six networks. Uses a Windows operating system.
